2007 CLUB RENEWAL FORM

New coaches are encouraged to enroll in the National Coaching Certification Program's new theory courses this fall.

As KAO's coaching program comes closer to being competency based, participation in these courses become more significant. According to KAO's NCCP representative, Howard Crocker, Ontario 's own Brad Jones is working hard supporting the NKA's diligence in this competency based project. Chief dojo instructors should be aware of the value that these courses have in creating standardized class leadership within your dojo and the entire organization.

Course dates for Level's "A" and "B" can be downloaded from here:

http://www.coachesontario.ca/calendar/ .

Karate specific courses, offered through KAO, will be announced within the next several months

Team Ontario Widens The Gap

By Sean Wong

The battle in Newfoundland at the National Karate Association's Black Belt Championships this July was exciting as well as challenging for Ontario athletes. This year's goal to climb to the top was partially achieved as Ontario's best Karate athletes secured a substantial lead in medal achievements ahead of Karate B.C. Despite our best efforts, Karate Quebec still leads the pack with a total of 75 medals winnings, only 12 ahead of Ontario.

It is no surprise that Ontario superstars like Christopher De Sousa Costa, Saeed Baghbani, Ada Bratic, and Jelena Miljkovic earned multiple gold medals. Other team members that added value to our gold medal vault was Nadja Bratic, Alexander Davis, William Kinahan, Melissa Jennings, Leirick Chung, Kiril Bezhenov, and Ehasan Dhibaji. Ontario's gold and silver medal placements only total 4 to 5 less than Quebec, while our third place medals totalled 8 which is equal to the third place team of B.C. Ontario led all provinces in 4th place medals positions. Details of the results can be downloaded from Karate NL's website at http://ca.geocities.com/djr@nl.rogers.com/Results2006CN2006NL-Final.rtf

No word yet from the team coach Jennings but I suspect that he is already working out a plan for next year. Congratulations to the entire Ontario team for a job well done.
