Karate Ontario is the provincial charter branch of
the National Karate Association of Canada (NKA) .
The National Karate Association of Canada is the only
sport governing body for Karate recognized by the
federal government of Canada.
The National Karate Association of Canada is a member country of
the World Karate Federation (WKF).
The World Karate Federation is the only Federation recognized by
the International Olympic
Committee (IOC) to represent Karate.

The NKA , with the provincial organizations, has established a program to provide dan (black belt) ranking. They also provide recognition to independent organizations and also larger established groups. This ensures consistent black belt standards and provides an objective review of unique style associations or clubs without traditional parent organizations.
