Point Standings for March 2008
Canadian National Black Belt Championships
Come to New Brunswick to compete in the first open-to-all-members recreational tournament. The event will be held on Saturday July,
5 commencing at 12:00 noon. Compete against fellow Karateka from all across Canada . See who will be the best.
Come early on Saturday to see the Championship matches; the best of the best of Canada's elite athletes will compete for top honours,
starting at 8:00 am.
The NKA is pleased to bring to you an open training camp. Come be trained by some of Canada 's Elite Athletes such as: Katarina Vadovicova,
Saeed Baghbani, Philippe Piorier, Trevor Sheppard and Toshi Uchiage.
The camp will be held on Sunday July 6th at the Hilton Saint John. Kata session from 8:00am to 12:00 noon and Kumite session from 1:00pm to 5pm.
The cost of each session is $50.00. Registration begins one half hour before the session starts. Registration is limited to those that compete in the
open tournament, unless otherwise arranged ahead of time by email to bmale@nka.ca

1.Tournament Equipment
It is now mandatory for female chest protectors to be used by all female kumite competitors (aged 12 and above)
in Karate Ontario competitions starting in the next Grand Prix (November)

It is now mandatory for the instep foot protectors to be worn by kumite competitors in Karate Ontario
competitions starting in the next Grand Prix (November)
3.New Weight Divisions KOA will be introducing new weight divisions at the next Grand Prix (November). These weight divisions will mirror changes at the National and International levels. More info to come ...
Provincial Team training will resume in the New Year

Training will be open only to properly registered KOA competitors, who are being considered for placement on the Provincial Team. More information to come. NEW Point System
This 2007/2008 season, Karate Ontario will calculate all Grand Prix events to determine the division champion. The points’ formula that will be used is listed below:
Gold 50 pt
Silver 25 pt
Bronze 12.5 pt
Participation adjuster 1 pt/tournament
Pan-Am competition adjuster 50 pt
WKF competition adjuster 50 pt
Pan-Am medallist adjustment 102 pt
WKF medallist adjustment 153 pt
Note:
In case of a real tie, an extra match will decide.
In addition, National champions in Ontario are no longer exempt from competition. They are now required to compete in at least 2 Grand Prix events in a season.
